a few of our graduates…

  • "I thought we were doomed. We have an adorable 7 lb Yorkie mix who was beyond anxious – barking nonstop, day and night. We honestly thought that was just how life was going to be. It was stressful for all of us. Then a neighbor said, ‘Call BB.’ From the moment we began working with her, everything changed. BB worked wonders. Our little guy is calmer and happier, and so are we.”

    - Patti J.

  • "BB is immensely talented, disciplined, capable. She’s someone you’re always happy to see headed your way. BB can draw from an astounding range of resources and ideas, sharing articles, events, training information, veterinarian referrals, YouTube videos for dogs….you name it. BB is generous with two-footed and four-footed creatures alike. "

    - Amy P.

  • "BB is an excellent dog trainer! She is energetic, reliable, and really cares about animals. She helped teach me leadership skills and taught my puppy leash etiquette, impulse control, and to be less reactive to other dogs. We loved working with her!"

    - Karly M.

  • "Thanks to BB's skill and genuine love of dogs, I am learning how to handle my two big guys and be the alpha dog of our pack. BB makes training fun for all of us!"

    - Rita H.

  • "I can’t recommend BB enough. When Enzo came home from the shelter, he was incredibly timid and anxious. After just a few sessions, I could see a real improvement. BB has a wonderful and genuine connection to animals. Her positive reinforcement training worked wonders. Enzo is happier and more confident, and our bond is stronger because of BB."

    – Nancy P.

  • "BB is a true dog whisperer! She is patient, kind, understanding, and really “speaks dog” in the truest sense. She really helped us to understand our pup on a new level, and we can’t recommend her highly enough!"

    - Sarah F.

  • "BB has been an important part of Gracie's life the past few years and has brought Gracie so much joy. BB cares for animals with kindness, reliability, thoughtfulness, consistency and love. Gracie's life is better having BB in it - as is mine since I can trust her implicitly. Also - I have seen her work magic with dogs that need training (or us humans that need training :) BB is truly a dog whisperer - she has an intuitive way with dogs that is very special. "

    – Vanessa H.

  • "The first thing I have to mention regarding BB Borowitz is the pure JOY she radiates. Dogs seem to pick up on this right away, as demonstrated by the love they show her in return. BB worked with our dogs in a training capacity, and also gave them frequent massages and walks. She had a noticeable positive impact on both of our dogs, and we love having her as a part of our dogs' lives."

    – Brian P.

  • "BB is a dog whisperer! She is perceptive and intuitive enough to diagnose whether they are happy or sad, or if something is wrong. She trained my dog (who was abused) to be less food-conscious and more affectionate, she even gives her doggie massages! BB is a very honorable and trustworthy person - I would recommend her highly!"

    – Lisa L.

  • "BB’s love for dogs shines through in everything she does. She cared for our pup as if he were her own: attentive, gentle, and always focused on his happiness and wellbeing. He absolutely adored her and would light up the moment she walked through the door. We couldn’t have asked for a more loving and reliable dog trainer."

    - Melissa H.

  • "When I first got Potato she had seemingly never been on a leash or on a walk. She was terrified to go anywhere and barked hysterically at almost anything that moved. Walks and training with BB helped Po find her self-confidence, and now she’s the mayor of our block, eager to meet any human or cat big or small and able to greet most dogs with a sniff. Absolutely night and day! We returned to BB recently for help getting Po used to furniture ramps after a neck injury. If she continued to jump off furniture, she would likely reinjure herself and likely need risky spinal surgery. BB met with us for one session and gave me homework to practice. Within a few days Po became completely comfortable using ramps to go up and down. BB literally saved her neck!"

    - Emily G.

  • "BB is the real deal cat & dog whisperer. Loving, gentle, wise, affordable, reliable. Your dog will get the gold treatment!"

    Kathryn H.

  • "My two dogs have received excellent training by BB. She has worked on leash training, no pull, sit, stay, leave it and other basic commands. Her dedicated work has improved their social behavior and separation anxiety, and she uses only a positive reinforcement training approach."

    - Celeste H.

  • "BB helped us out with our new rescue dog who was a fire survivor. When we first got him, he was unfriendly with other dogs, unreliable around children, and needed lots of help with walking calmly on a leash. BB connected with him from the start and he was always so happy to see her. BB was flexible and willing to work with us and Max improved in all areas with her expert help. She did such great work and we are so grateful."

    - Susan T.

  • "BB trained my puppy in leash etiquette and basic commands. She is awesome and pups love her!"

    – Melinda C.

  • "We met BB in the neighborhood and couldn’t be happier that we did! Our two-year-old dog Gracie was still getting used to the city… BB and Gracie hit it off right away, and Gracie quickly came out of her shell with someone so open and excited to go at her pace. Within weeks she reached a whole new level of confidence — walking briskly and entering areas she’d previously been worried about. We also reached a new level of understanding Gracie’s needs through BB’s clear and accessible explanations. We can’t recommend BB enough. Thanks, BB!"

    - Jenny F.

  • "Working with BB got Luna and me on our way toward independence."

    – Kitaho

  • "After our first session, I could already feel the difference in my own behavior on our evening walk. Thank you so much."

    – Beth K.

  • "We’re so grateful to BB for her patient work with our pandemic puppy, Rocco. When we adopted him at 7 months, he was terrified of the world — even tiny dogs passing our yard triggered squeals of fear. After three unsuccessful trainers, BB’s free consult felt immediately promising. With 4–5 months of gentle, positive work, Rocco gained real confidence and can now often walk around the block happily greeting old friends and ignoring many dogs he doesn’t know. BB also taught us how to introduce him to new dogs and gave us strategies for daily life. We highly recommend her."

About BB

BB, positive reinforcement dog trainer in Oakland, CA, stands wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a blue jacket, smiling, with a poodle dog on a leash in front of her.

As a kid, I always wanted to be a teacher. After earning a Master’s Degree in Education from Stanford University, I taught in Mexico and Europe and I was the founder of The Paros School on the island of Paros, Greece.

My dog training began when, while dog walking professionally, I intuitively discovered that I could change dogs’ behavior. That’s what I’m here to teach you. It can be as simple as changing your posture or tone of voice.

I love how each dog is unique, living their unique lives, communicating in their unique ways. They all delight in understanding what we want, doing it for us, and getting rewarded. A dog’s life is in the perpetual present.

In my Way of the Wag work, I feel the dogs, a skill I learned as a child with a strong intuitive sense. I became certified through Dog Tec and do Continuing Education with leading dog experts to learn the latest techniques in dog training and care.

I make training fun and intuitive and celebrate the progress of you and your dog. If you are eager to improve your relationship with your dog and resolve issues, I would love to work with you both. Reach out. Let’s talk.
